Why I Started StoryPrize Memories
As a husband and a father of two right here in Metro Detroit, I know how fast life moves. One minute you’re taking snapshots of first steps or summer days out on Union Lake, and the next, you’re wondering where the years went. Whether you’re just starting out or celebrating a life well lived, your photos and keepsakes hold more than moments—put together, they show the story of a life: where it began, the people who shaped it, and everything that happened in between.
When I looked for a way to digitize our own family’s history, the options were frankly terrifying. I could spend hundreds of hours feeding a cheap home scanner myself, or I could pack our most precious, one-of-a-kind memories into a cardboard box, ship them across the country to a giant factory warehouse, and pray they didn't get lost in transit—only to wait up to 10 weeks to get them back.
I knew Metro Detroit families deserved better. Together with my wife Christina, we founded StoryPrize Memories (the consumer legacy division of Scanning Corp) to offer a safer, faster, and deeply personal local alternative. Everyone has a story, and that story is the prize.
